The Story Behind Ploiwang.com: From a Song to a Healing Space
Many people who visit Ploiwang (ปล่อยวาง) today see a site with quite a few features. But if you ask me about the real inspiration — the actual starting point of this project — it began with a single feature that had been sitting in my heart for a long time: ‘A Letter to Yourself.’
The idea sparked the day I listened to a song called ‘A Letter to My Future Self’ by Boy Trai Phumirat. The lyrics brought me back to those moments in life when we run into hard things, hit dead ends, or feel so tired we can’t even tell anyone. And in that moment, it hit me: maybe the person who can understand and comfort us best isn’t anyone around us — it’s ourselves, on the day we’ve already made it through.
From that letter, I slowly built up the rest of the site around a sense of stillness — something Zen — until it grew into a set of tools that help you rest your heart in many different ways.
Vanish Modes
This group of features came from one idea: sometimes you just need to let it out, without saving or remembering it. So there are three modes for dissolving the weight.
- Fading Text: The lightest mode — like writing on the surface of water. As you type what’s on your mind, the letters slowly fade away within a few seconds. Good for things you’d rather let pass like the wind.
- Type with Sound: A mode with the ambient sound of water (Ripple). As you type, the words create ripples on the screen. When you press “Sink,” the AI sends a brief reflection back to you before the words quietly sink away into the water.
- Destroy Text: For the heavy stuff — things you want gone for good. This mode gives you a digital shredder where you can choose Burn, Shred, Dissolve, or Wash. Every act of destruction has its own beautiful, healing effect.
Time Capsule (A Letter to Yourself)
This is the heart of the site I mentioned at the start. You can write a letter, seal it, and pick a date for it to come back to you in the future.
For people who can’t quite find the words, there’s 導 Michibiki (AI Guide) — for anyone who feels stuck or doesn’t know where to start. The guide asks three questions, and the AI weaves your answers into a graceful letter on the spot.
Reflect & Perspective
- 鏡 Kagami (Mirror of the Heart): Pick a card and receive a koan. Then write your honest answer, and the AI acts as a mirror — reflecting perspectives you might have been overlooking, so you can see what’s hidden inside your own words.
- 籤 Mikuji (Fortune of the Present): Instead of predicting the future, this draws daily reflections in categories like work or relationships, pulling you back to the present moment so you can carry the thought into your day.
- 継 Kintsugi (Golden Cracks): For days when you feel broken or like you’ve failed. Inspired by the Japanese art of repairing pottery, you write down what hurt — and the AI helps mend the cracks with a new perspective, beautiful as a line of kintsugi gold.

和 Wa — the Heart Plaza
A space that moves from “yourself” to sharing with fellow travellers.
I designed this feature to be like a wide open plaza where anyone can leave their feelings — 100% anonymously. The whole point is to create a place that says “you’re not carrying this alone,” while still keeping it clean and safe for everyone.
- AI Filter (Zen Filter): The AI checks every message before it’s posted, focused on screening out profanity or risky content — so the plaza stays a safe space for everyone.
- Reactions, not Comments: No back-and-forth comments. Just buttons to send understanding — a hug, or a quiet “I hear you.”
- Temporary by Design: Posts in the plaza last 30 days before being permanently removed, in keeping with the idea of non-attachment.
- Safety First: For anyone in a vulnerable place, the AI watches for crisis signals and immediately surfaces mental-health hotline numbers on screen — so you can get the right kind of support.
Wa is the balance point that makes Ploiwang more than just a place to be alone with yourself. It’s a reminder that, in this noisy world, there are still many hearts ready to listen and understand.
庵 Iori — the Ephemeral Room
If writing a letter is talking to your future self, the Ephemeral Room is having a listener in the present — actually there with you.
- Talk, Be Heard, Let Go: Real-time chat with an AI designed to be a warm, understanding listener — no judgment, no preaching, no medical or financial advice.
- Zero Persistence: What makes this room special is its impermanence. Every message you exchange with the AI lives only on your screen for a brief moment. Close the window or hit Leave, and everything is gone — permanently. Nothing is saved to a database. No conversation history of any kind. So you can be sure that even your most fragile feelings dissolve along with the time.
- A Quiet Atmosphere: The room is designed to feel as minimal as possible, with a clear privacy promise on display. Like sitting in a small hut, far from the noise — somewhere you can finally say the things you couldn’t say to anyone else.
In nearly every feature, I tried to use AI as a listener without bias — something to help reflect your feelings as clearly as possible. All of it because I want Ploiwang to be a small space that welcomes anyone on a tired day, and helps them set their burden down — for real.
There are honestly a lot more features to explore at ploiwang.com. I plan to keep adding new ones over time, hoping to make it the most complete little resting place I can.
And if you’d like to follow along, the page is at facebook.com/ploiwangzen. I hope Ploiwang helps you set down a bit of what you’ve been carrying — even a little is enough.
